Message of Greeting from the German Consul General in Atlanta

Dr. Heike Fuller

The German American Cultural Foundation (GAC-F) in Atlanta is a pivotal cornerstone of the deep-rooted German-American bonds in the Southeastern United States.

Founded in 2008, the GAC-F has significantly fostered and strengthened German-American ties with its many projects in education and culture. Its mission, engaging the worlds of business and culture in a fruitful and mutually beneficial dialogue, has been successfully implemented for many years and is now more crucial than ever. Today, the GAC-F serves as a platform for people-to-people encounters that raise cultural awareness and bridge gaps between the various cultural contexts.

The Oktoberfest Run and the Atlanta Christkindl Market are just two of the prominent flagship projects of the GAC-F that promote exchange among diverse groups of Germans and Americans, not only between the sister cities Atlanta and Nuremberg but between Germany and the entire Southeastern United States.

Being aware of the utmost importance of intercultural understanding for strong and lasting ties between German-speaking countries and the United States, the founders and partners of the GAC-F demonstrated great foresight and leadership by supporting the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta and the German School of Atlanta. Exposure to the German language does not only open doors to a broader intercultural understanding, it can also lead to more diverse career paths for Generation Z through internships and practical training at the many German companies operating in the Southeast.

I strongly encourage the founders and partners of the GAC-F to continue their relentless efforts to foster German-American cultural relations. For the forthcoming initiatives, I wish you and your partners great success so that German-American programs will be able to flourish in the Southeastern United States for many years to come.
